I’ve been working on a website for a colleague of mine and It’s nearing completion. It is a web store that he is going to sell various products with. Originally he planned to advertise online only and use search engine marketing for his main method of sales. I told him about a company I have used for other clients in the past that will print cost-effective catalogs of items he sells in his store that he can hand out to people. He wasn’t sure at first, but I showed him a catalog from a previous client and told him the cost of color printing it and how much more effective it was on sales and he became very interested, to say the least. Online stores are a great way to make some extra money, but advertising your products through catalogs that people can actually hold and look at works wonders. I also told him that it was a very good idea to offer a discount coupon code in the catalog for people that want to place orders online after reviewing the product catalog and he agreed that it would probably help business. I think he will be very surprised at how well his online store does after I am done. Nobody ever thinks they will sell much initially, then they can’t stop telling me how great it’s going after a couple of months. I really need to set up my own online store.

A few months ago my hard drive crashed and I lost nearly all of the files that I had stored on my computer. I lost all of my family pictures, home videos that I was editing, all of my music and everything that I was working on at home from the office. After that happened, I started using a free online backup service so that certain important files would be safe in case my computer ever crashed again.

My grandparents had never had the internet before. My Grandfather just retired and they were on a very limited income. Since my Grandmother had never worked, she had no retirement to draw. They still had 3 years before receiving Social Security and were trying to make ends meet on my Grandfathers retirement alone. They couldn’t travel or make many long distance phone calls, due to the high costs. Due to missing all their children and grandchildren, the decided to get the internet since everyone else in the family already had it, and they could communicate daily with everyone that way. I told my Grandfather everything to get and he got it and had me hook it up for him. The only thing he didn’t get was the fiber optic cables. He was not aware that he would need these to hook up the internet. It ended up being no problem, as he and I made a trip to the local computer store and picked some up. They now have faster internet than I’ve ever used and are communicating with everyone and are so much happier. I’ll probably have to start going over there to use their internet for super fast downloads.

I’m really starting to think that the internet hates me. It seems like anytime I try and do something I either cant get it to work properly or it just doesn’t work at all. I don’t know if it’s my computer or what, but it’s getting pretty irritating and annoying when every time I try and do something online it just doesn’t work like it should.

A friend of mine just purchased a second home. He started a little internet business a couple of years ago and it has really become a beast. He completely lives off of it and supports his family from it now. I wish one of my online skeems could gain some kind of success so that I could sit on my butt all day and make enough money to support a family and buy a second home.
