Cleaning Houses For A Living

Website Reviews, Shopping, Jobs No Comments

I have a friend that cleans houses for a living. She owns her own business. I recently went with her to buy her supplies. She goes to one company to purchase everything. Everything she buys is bought in bulk, because it is much cheaper that way. She buys cases of different cleaners, disposable gloves, rags, brushes, mop heads and other items. It is amazing how much she saves by buying them in large quantities at a time, instead of small amounts. She gets paid well for cleaning houses and buying her supplies this way makes her profit much higher.

A Bunch of CAT6 Cable

Technology, Website Reviews, Random Thoughts, Jobs No Comments

A friend of mine recently gave me a huge amount of CAT6 cable that was left over on a job that his company did. His company does alot of networking jobs and they always endup just leaving lots of cable and other random supplies at the jobs that are left over. My friend usually tries to gather up all of the left over items that he can and he either sells them or gives them to me.

Finishing Home Improvement Projects

Home Improvement, Website Reviews, Jobs No Comments

A while back I picked up some new roller shades for my living room.  We have been doing various home improvement projects for the past couple of months and we’re just about finished with everything. We still have a couple of things left to do, like install new showers in the bathrooms, but the majority of the projects are just about finished.

Thank God

I’m sitting here thanking my lucky stars that I did not accept or complete work for a freelance writing client. I remember excitedly telling my husband about the project and how much money I could make from it. But that night when I sat down to write, not only did the thoughts not come but I also had a massive headache. I took it as a sign and got to bed early that night. Come to find out that the company was a scam and they never paid their writers. Things are so bad with this company that they are being sued by a few writers who they hired. God is so good to me on that. I couldn’t imagine having to go through waiting for money like that. And they pay $50.00 per article. Unbelievable.

Owning Your Own Peice of The Internet

Money Making, Websites, Jobs No Comments

I’ve been trying to get my silver jewelry business online but I don’t have the start-up fees to get it done. I was so glad when one of my girlfriends sent me to freewebs.com. She also owns her own home-based business. The site gives you easy-to-use tools as well as templates to suit your style. I love the blue and black background that I have on my web page.

Job Hunting

Jobs, Rants No Comments

Finding a job in my state is hard work. I am very qualified at a lot of things so I don’t know why it’s so hard for me to actually get it. I damn near practically kissed-ass at one of the local newspaper firms trying to get at least my pinky toe in the door. But I’ll keep you posted on how that goes. Nevertheless, I decided to put my resume with the employment agency. Do they really work? I think its a waste of time though, especially  with me having  to travel some 30 minutes from my home for an appointment with the agency. I was given a timesheet and some documents on the agency’s policies but I’m still waiting to hear back from them on a job. Especially since I was told that there was a vacancy in a company right across the street from where I live. I’ll keep looking around for jobs on my own though. I’ll find something… I guess.

Some Editors Are Unbelievable

Jobs, Rants No Comments

I do freelance writing for companies from time to time. The pay isn’t nothing to write home about but if you have four or five projects going with other clients, then you should be all set financially. I met with an editor who immediately assigned me to work and mind you without seeing samples of my work or resume. While trying to get the work done, my baby kept interrupting and as a family rule, my husband and I would usually drop whatever we are doing to make sure that the baby’s needs are taken care of. It was one night trying to meet my deadline that the editor started to voice her opinion on the whole baby situation. She had not only accused my baby of being “spoilt” but she also added that I should sit and get her work done and let the baby learn independence by watching an educational DVD. In my mind I’m thinking that this woman, who is also a mother, is one of those people that the media always talk about who uses TV to babysit their kids. I immediately called off her project citing family first and i knew she was not a happy camper. Her lost. In the end it really isn’t worth my sweat and time working my ass off for $2.00 per $500 word article when I could be spending that time with my kid or getting house work done. I think my husband said it best when he said “I’m sure our daughter could find $2.00 in quarters around the house while you’re killing yourself behind that writing project”. He’s right. Ain’t worth it.

T-Jobs.com - Ripoff

Jobs, Rants No Comments

I’ve been eyeing Telecommutejobs.com or more commonly Tjobs.com for a long time trying to get some work to do at home. With all the success rates that they publish about those who get jobs etc, I decided to give it a try. Lo and behold I’m stopped in my tracks as I’m requested to purchase a password that costs $15.00 which is valid for a year for members. Deciding that I really have nothing to lose, except a few bucks, I signed up. The nerve of this company to put up job vacancies without opening and closing dates.  And not only that, I’m not even sure that some of these companies really exist. Quite frankly I think this company has a bunch of good graphic artists to their avail to put out these fake websites. There’s a so called employer with the website http://www.roomserviceanywhere.com  There is a girl on the room service website who  I’m guessing is pushing 70 years old right now, the site looks that  ancient and bogus.  And it has not even been updated since 2005. Go figure! For laughs, go to room service’s  Contact Us page and read the crap on there. Please beware of T-job’s website.. I don’t think they’ve got legitimate work for anybody. They make money  by ripping people off.
