I’ve always wondered what the best diet pills are. You hear so much on the radio and see so many advertisements on television and in magazines, and they all claim to be the best diet pills ever created. One of my New Year’s resolutions was to loose 35 pounds by April, and I’m just not losing the weight as quick as I had hoped. I’m going to start reading real online reviews of various diet pills and give one a shot.

Last month my company remodeled one of the offices in our building and turned it into a fitness / workout room. They installed 4 treadmills, 2 weight benches, 2 punching bags, 3 ellipticals and 2 flat screen LCD televisions. I didn’t think many people in my office would actually use the equipment, but it has been a big hit. I would say that about 60% of the employees go to the room on their lunch break now and everyone seems to love it. I guess it beats paying for a gym membership.

I am a bit of a survivalist. I believe in always being prepared (much like a boyscout), and I believe you should always store enough food and water to survive for at least 6 weeks, should anything devastating happen. I keep 2, 30 gallon stainless steel drums full of non-perishable food stored in my basement, along with 10 cases of bottled water, which I replace about every 6 months and a full family first aid kit. I also keep some non-perishable food and water in the trunk of my car, along with a first aid kit and some other items that one would need to survive, should the car break down in the middle of nowhere. If something bad should ever happen, I want to know that my family will remain safe and healthy.

About once a year I try and go through our house and replace all of the window blinds. They tend to start looking kind of rough and faded after a while and it really changes the looks of a room when you hang new, clean blinds. This year I have decided to replace all of the plain mini blinds with some nice natural wood blinds. I wont have to replace them for a long time, and I can just go over them with some furniture polish every once in a while to keep them looking nice. They’re a little more expensive than standard blinds, but they look so much nicer.

Last year my brother in-law had his house broken into while he and his family were on vacation nearly 2000 miles away. As soon as his alarm went off, he received a call on his cell phone from ADT’s customer monitoring center letting him know that his alarm was going off and they wanted to be sure everything was alright. My brother in-law informed them that they were on vacation and nobody was at the house. ADT alerted the local police and they were there within minutes. My brother in-law purchased his home security system from ADT right when they moved into the house. My sister told him that it was a waste of money because they moved to a “very safe neighborhood” and wouldn’t stop complaining about spending the money on a full home security system when they didn’t need one. Well, it turns out that even the safest neighborhoods still get houses broken into occasionally and that you can never be too safe. If they haden’t installed the alarm system, who knows what they would have came home to.

I can’t even imagine coming back from vacation to a trashed house with all of my family’s possessions and heirlooms gone. My sister now wants him to install security cameras on the house so that they can monitor them from any computer wherever they are. I’ve been thinking about installing cameras at my home for a while now, and I think I might go out and buy a full video surveillance system when I get my income tax check next month.

It seems like everyone I know has tried a few different weight loss products. Everyone is so concerned with their weight and looking perfect now. Almost every woman and a few of them men that I work with are currently taking some kind of dietary supplement or appetite suppressant right now. One of them is trying to lose weight because they can get cheap health insurance if they get down to a certain weight. I’m thinking about trying one of them, since it wouldn’t hurt me to lose about 15 pounds. We’ll see how it goes.

Over the years I have been through at least a dozen different hard drives. Every year I give my girlfriend the same type of gift of perfume. I know she loves fragrance and all but I thought that this year I would try to give her unique holiday gifts. She has a lot of jewelry so I saw this really cool sculptured jewelry tree that she can put them and display it instead of hiding them away in a jewelry box. Then I saw these really neat candle set that has a candle to represent each month of the year. They also have charms hanging from them and I know she would be blown away by this.
